Call for presentations – Connecting Arts and Education in Schools and Local Communities in Europe

The title of the conference reflects central questions of the project, and we invite participants from all fields to critically explore with us: How can children’s (critical) cultural literacy be explored and promoted through (arts) education in schools and communities, and how can such approaches contribute to more just and inclusive educational practices?

The conference invites presentations, (arts) workshops, panel talks and posters that explore the impacts and potentials of (arts) education in relation to children’s (critical) cultural literacy. We particularly welcome contributions that present and discuss findings on the use of arts in educational contexts in schools and local communities from children’s perspectives, or that take children’s viewpoints on arts into account. We are also open to innovative presentation formats that address these questions.

The conference is hosted by the RPTU – University of Kaiserslautern-Landau and will take place primarily at the Butenschoen-Haus in Landau, Germany between 25 and 26 of November 2026.
